九、表示“A正好是B的多少倍”:句型 “倍数+the size/ height/ length/ width，etc.+of…”

(1) This street is four times the length of that one.这条街是那条街的四倍长。
(2) This hill is four times the height of that small one.这座山的高度是那座山的四倍（比那座山高三倍）
(3) Line A is four times the length of line B. 线条 A 是线条 B 的四倍长。
(4) I have five times the number of Tom’s books. 我有五倍于汤姆的书。
(5) The river is ten times the length of the Tamsui River. 这条河的长度是淡水河的十倍。
(6) It was over twice the distance of the earth from the sun. 那是地球到太阳的距离的两倍多。
(7) The earth is 49 times the size of the moon. 地球的体积是月球的 49 倍。
(8) This river is three times the depth of that one. 这条河深度是那条河的三倍。

这种句式也可以作如下变化：

(13) The principal advantage of the products is a two-fold reduction in weight. 这些产品的主要优点是重量减轻了2倍。
(14) I’ve paid five times the usual price for the stamp. 我出了5倍于往常的价格买这枚邮票。
(15) The average income of the staff has been increased by 50 percent compared with last year.职工的收入增加了50%.

十、表示“A比B大（长、高、宽等）多少倍”: 句型“倍数+形容词（或副词）的比较级+than+从句”

(1) This rope is twice longer than that one.这根绳是那根绳的三倍（比那根绳长两倍）。
(2) The car runs twice faster than that truck.这辆小车的速度比那辆卡车快两倍（是那辆卡车的三倍）。
(3) This street is four times shorter than that one. 这条街道比那条短四倍。
(4) The mother elephant is one hundred times heavier than the baby elephant.这只母象比小象重一百倍。
(5) It is ten times louder than another. 它比另外一个的声音大十倍。
(6) This street is three times wider than that one. 这条街比那条街宽三倍。
(7) I am twice older than he. 我的年纪比他大两倍。
(8) The box is one-third bigger than that one. 这个盒子比那个盒子大三分之一。
以上倍数表达法仅是常规句型外，我们需要在这些常规句型的基础上，注意英语句型的灵活变化，做到活学活用。
